Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) will not formulate any new election manifesto for the ensuing parliamentary and assembly by elections but would campaign on the existing Common Minimum Programme of the DAN coalition. Disclosing this to Nagaland Post here Thursday, NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu said the reason was that since all the candidates from the NPF would contest as DAN consensus candidates, there was no need for another CMP. He said campaigning on the DAN’s CMP would be like putting old wine in new bottle as the contents would remained the same, except for omission or commission. Asked about the NPF’s foray into areas outside Nagaland, Dr. Shürhozelie the primary objective was to extend support to selected candidates in the forthcoming polls and later set up party candidates in the neighbouring states. The NPF has already begun the process of expansion by setting up separate committees the states of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh and contacting like minded regional parties. “The process of party expansion particularly in Manipur is in progress, however there are some parties who are in a hurry, but the NPF party wants a clean start,” he asserted. He said the NPF’s expansion was to promote emotional integration among Naga tribes as political integration appeared difficult. He also denied of any pre-poll alliance with the PDA of Manipur during the recent visit of the latter’s sitting Lok Sabha MP adding it was purely a courtesy call.
