Shillong Lajong FC for ONGC league

Shillong Lajong FC will be leaving for Gurgaon Saturday to take part in the final phase of the 2nd division ONGC ‘I’ League. This is the first club from North East to reach top six of the 2nd Division National League. If Shillong Lajong FC reaches the top 4 it will qualify for the 1st Division ‘I’ League and if this happens all the top Clubs of the country viz. Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Dempo, Mumbai FC, Churchill, Mohamedan Sporting, Air India, JCT, etc will have to play in Shillong. The ‘I’ League is on a home and away format. The break up of Clubs in the 1st Division ‘I’ League EAST: East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, United Sports Club, Mohamedan Sporting; NORTH: JCT; WEST: Mumbai FC, Air India, Mahindra United; SOUTH: Dempo, Churchill, Sporting Club ‘D’ Goa, Vasco Out of 15 teams in the 2nd Division ‘I’ League only 2 (i.e. Shillong Lajong FC & Oil India FC) are from the North East. Teams in final phase of 2nd Division ‘I’ League: Salgaocar, Viva Kerela, ONGC, Pune FC , SESA Academy Goa, Shillong Lajong FC.
