Both the NCP President and general secretary also called upon the party workers including the newly joined to work hard for the success of the DAN consensus candidate in the forthcoming election. Er. Levi in his brief address said he had realized that to be in politics to remain as an independent is like an orphan for which he had decided to join political party, and that though INC and BJP were a well establish national party, they’ve failed to understand and looked after the minority and the underdeveloped people. NCP as a national party however had demonstrated that by putting P.A. Sangma, who himself is a tribal minority hailing from underdeveloped area as the party second in command, he said. In a separate statement, Er Levi stated he along with his supporters decided to join the NCP en-bloc willfully without any condition in order to strengthen and build the NCP in the state as well as national level and with a view and commitment to strengthen the DAN coalition government under the undisputed and able leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio popularly known as “The people’s Chief Minister” and under the leadership of Dr. Chumben Murry and Pangnyu Phom. Further, he along with his supporters also resolved to lend their unflinching support to the DAN consensus candidate CM Chang for the forthcoming parliamentary election and also the DAN candidates for the four assembly constituencies which are going for bye-election.
