CM assures fair polls

Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has assured the people of the state that the forthcoming parliamentary election and the bye-elections to four assembly seats would be free and fair. According to NPF press secretary, Abu Metha, the chief minister at an election rally in Mon town said that the state machineries including the administration, police and the election department were geared up for the polls and added that they were prepared to carry out their responsibilities in a fair and neutral manner. He assured that the elections would be held as per the laid down norms without any hindrances. Rio appealed to all sections to abstain from harming the democratic process and to allow the elections to be held under peaceful environment. On the recent news reports regarding CAG report related to Nagaland, the chief minister also made it clear that the report would be appropriately dealt with by the Public Accounts Committee of the Legislative Assembly as was the laid down norm. He clarified that the CAG report mainly dealt with matters of procedures of departmental functioning, following of laid down rules, etc and that there was no question of corruption charges.
