NCA Inter-dist cricket tourney: Kma, Dmu in finals

Host Kohima will set-up a title clash with formidable Dimapur team in the final 23rd NCA Inter-district cricket tournament, 2009, hosted by Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA). The final will be played on Monday at 9 am in the local ground, Kohima. In the first semi final match, Kohima beat Wokha by 41 runs and while Dimapur defeated Mon by 76 runs in the second semi-final match played respectively at local ground, Kohima and Kohima Village ground. Kohima team were struggling at 35 for 5 wickets in 12 over at one stage, however an unbroken partnership of 82 runs for the seven wickets between Chulo 62 (47 balls) and Mengu Sachii 47 in 14 balls helped Kohima to a mammoth score of 160 for 6 in 20 over. Kohima lose the six wickets at the score of 78, with Imlikoba scoring 16. Mengu Sachii tore apart the Wokha bowlers by hitting 6 huge sixes in the KV ground, which could equated with an International standard cricket field and making the spectators roar. Facing a daunting task Wokha never came back in the match and ended their innings for 119 losing 6 wickets. Mengu Sachii(Kohima) was declared the man of the match. Formidable Dimapur , winning their six matches on trot, amassed 159 for 9 in 20 over , Thejosul struck a breezy 51 and well supported by Akhrietuo 26 and Micheal 22, while Mon bowlers Yingmei and Akham accounted three wickets each. Mon folded up their innings at 83 all out in 19.4 over, with Wangtok 13, Nanwamg 12 and Ahot0 10, while rest batsmen failed to reach double figures. Dimapur’s Pinku was the chief wicket taker claiming 4 wickets and two by Jalal. The Champions will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh in cash while the runners-up will get Rs. 50,000 in cash, Man of the tournament Rs. 5000 cash and Man of the match in Final will be awarded with Rs.2500. The Prizes for the tournament are sponsored by K.C Angami and Velelie Khamo, both 1st Class Contractor, Nagaland. Meanwhile Alemteshi Jamir, Addl Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner will be the chief guest on the final day.
