In view of the incident, the SSU held an emergency meeting on March 27 and resolved not to remain a silent spectator but to put all efforts to obtain justice. The union has also appealed to all right thinking citizens to condemn such crime and to cooperate with the law enforcing agencies to book the culprits at the earliest. A joint press statement issued by DNSU president, Solomon L Awomi and general secretary, Kenneth Rengma described the act as “barbaric and shameless” and said that there was no place for such people in Naga society. DNSU opined that such people should be banished from the society according to the law of the land, in order to “Heal our Land” and to live in harmony. The union has urged state authority and district administration to book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment. It also appealed all right thinking Nagas and communities to fight against such act. DNSU vice president, Medovoi Medeo and general secretary I Mangyang Jamir in a separate press statement also condemned the incident and urged authority responsible to speed up investigation and nab the remaining culprits at the earliest.
