Government constitutes DPC
DIMAPUR: The government of Nagaland has re-constituted the departmental promotion committee (DPC), except for police department for all non-gazetted post under various departments. According to an official bulletin, the officers include:
1. Director/Head of the Departments – Chairman
2. Representative of the concerned Administrative Department not below the rank of Under Secretary – Member
3. Representative of the P&AR Department not below the rank of Under Secretary – Member
4. One senior officer of the concerned Directorate not below the rank of Deputy Director in charge of Administration - Member Secretary.
The DPC shall function as the selection board for all recruitments in the scale which is less then Rs. 4125per month. The board would follow all procedure of appointments including reservation of posts for the backward tribes etc.
All recruitments of the department would be conducted after dully constituting the DPC and all the officers must be associated from written examination till the entire selection procedure is completed.
GPRN budget session
DIMAPUR: GPRN 2009-2010 budget session would commence from April 21. Speaker, Tatar Hoho NSCN/GPRN Tongmeth Wangnao have requested all kilonsers, Dy. Kilonsers, Tatars, Heads of Naga Army, CAOs and heads of departments to be present for the session in Council Headquarters (CHQ) Hebron by April 20.
Raj Bhavan joins ‘vote earth’ campaign
DIMAPUR: As a symbolic gesture to show solidarity with global campaign for ‘Vote Earth’, governor of Nagaland K. Sankaranarayanan, along with officers and staff at the Raj Bhavan, Kohima observed ‘Earth Hour 2009’ by switching off all lights between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm on March 28. According to an official bulletin, earlier in his speech at the floor of the House during the recently concluded assembly session, the governor had appealed to the people of Nagaland to join the rest of the world in joining the ‘Vote Earth’ campaign as a gesture to address the global phenomenon of climate change.
The state government had also issued an office memorandum requesting all government employees as well as the public of Nagaland to extend their co-operation by observing ‘Earth Hour’ by switching off ‘electricity lights’ during the stated period. It may be noted that Nagaland is the only state in the country where the state government officially took part in observing ‘Earth Hour’.
45 Tehok A/C Cong meet
DIMAPUR: The 45 Tehok A/C Congress held a meeting on March 26 for the ensuing parliamentary election at the residence of vice president DCC(I), Mon, P. Honpha Konyak
During the meet, the party elected a new team of office bearers comprising Honpha Konyak as president ACC(I) 45 Tehok A/C and S. Tonching as general secretary. The party also held discussion with VCC (I) president, public of 45th Tehok A/C.
Briefing was also conducted by N. Khotai, former president ACC (I) 45th Tehok A/C, W. Shenpa former president ACC (I) 45th Tehok A/C, S. Panglem ex-PS to Wangyuh, president NSUI 45th Tehok A/C.
Election trg in Mon
DIMAPUR: The first phase of training for the presiding officers and first polling officers for the ensuing Parliamentary and by-election to 41 A/C Tizit was held at council hall and Noel School, Mon on March 28. According to an official bulletin, deputy commissioner & DEO Mon in his address briefed on the powers and function of the presiding and first polling officers on the polling day. He also exhorted all concerned to attend all training schedule without fail. ADC Mon, SDO (C) Mon and AEO Mon also briefed the polling officials.
DIMAPUR: The first handicraft seminar was held at Pungro with parliamentary secretary for CAWD, T. Torechu as the chief guest on March 25. According to an official bulletin. Torechu while speaking to the gathering said it was one of the strategies of solving social problem from employment point of view. The programme was sponsored by craft council of Nagaland in coordination with international border area people welfare organisation (IBAPWO), Dimapur and under the initiative of general secretary CNN Dimapur, Alem Longkumer. Altogether 25 villages attended the seminar. The chief guest also visited the exhibition stall. The function was chaired by president craft council of Nagaland Neikhozoto Savino.
Eri silkworm trg
DIMAPUR: A two day training program on Eri Silkworm technology and disease management conducted at District Sericulture Office Mokokchung concluded March 27 as a part of year of capacity building 2008-2009 with T. Wai Pongener Deputy Director, Ngangshimeyu Extension Officer and Imtimeren Supervisor as resource persons. The program was attended by 20 selected farmers who imparted training on various Sericultural Technologies with practical demonstration after which it was followed by interaction and audiovisual presentation on silkworm rearing and post cocoon technology.
Campaign rally postponed
DIMAPUR: NPF Phek Division Campaign Committee informed that election campaign rally under Phek district for the ensuing Lok Sabha and by-election 2009 scheduled to be held on April 4 at Pfutsero town has been postponed to April 9. The schedule of the programme would remain the same.
EVM trg in Zbto postponed
DIMAPUR: The proposed EVM training at Zunheboto for presiding and first polling officer have been postponed to April 3 due some unavoidable circumstances. According to an official bulletin, the training would be held at the same venue i.e. public ground Zunheboto from 11 a.m. onwards.
Receipt of govt bills by SBI
DIMAPUR: As per the direction from the State Bank of India Kohima, principal secretary & finance commissioner, Toshi Aier through an official bulletin informed that government bills by State Bank of India during financial year ending would be accepted up to March 31, 6 pm

DIMAPUR: The 30th general session of Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has been convened on April 2 and 3 at Gaili village.
