Watsu Mungdang (WM) and the GPRN/NSCN have also condemned the gang-rape of a girl by five miscreants on March 25 at Darogapathar, Dimapur. Condemning the incident, the WM appealed the law enforcing agencies to bring all miscreants to book at the earliest and award capital punishment. WM president, Supongla Lemdur and general secretary, Imtila Lkr in a joint press statement said such anti-social element should be terminated totally from the Naga society so that it was not repeated in future. The Mungdang also observed that since last few years such “inhuman act” had become common in the society and that it should be eradicated completely. GPRN/NSCN vehemently condemned the incident and said the “vilest crime” demanded befitting punishment at the earliest. “Such beasts in the garb of humans endanger Naga society and no woman is safe as long as these wicked men roam the streets of towns and villages,” the publicity cell said. The GPRN/NSCN said it was ready to extend fullest cooperation to all law enforcing agencies in bringing the “wicked perpetrators” to justice and called for “zero tolerance” to be applied to these “beasts.” It also said that any affiliation of these “rapists” or their families towards any organization or official should not prevent or delay their arrest.
