EC to visit Sikkim

Election Commissioner Navin B Chawla is set to arrive in Sikkim on Thursday for a two-day visit to take stock of the preparations for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state. EC would be accompanied by his deputy R Balakrishnan and legal advisor S K Mandiratha, an official release informed today. During his visit, Chawla would meet the representatives of all the recognised political parties in the state at evening on April 2. He would also meet the Chief Secretary, DGP, all the four District Collectors and other government officials on April 3 to review the poll preparedness in Sikkim. Sikkim goes to polls on April 30. Elections for the 32 Assembly seats and the lone Lok Sabha seat will be conducted simultaneously on April 30.
