13, 21,781 voters for LS poll

Altogether 13, 21,781 electorate of Nagaland are eligible to exercise their franchise to elect the lone Lok Sabha member scheduled for April 16. Nagaland has a total of 13, 21,781 voters, comprising 6, 76, 699 male and 6, 45, 083 female voters. Official sources in the election department said that there was marginal increase of 1.8 % voters as compared to last state general elections held in 2008. In 2008 general elections, the electorate had 13, 00507 voters. Official sources informed that there would be 1,780 polling stations, out of which 1692 are main polling stations and 88 are auxiliary polling stations. The auxiliary polling stations have been set-up where there are more than 1500 votes in a polling station. Out of this, a total of 65 polling stations are not connected by vehicular traffic and the polling personnel has to walk on foot to reach the destination and conduct the elections. The Constituency with highest voters is 4 Ghaspani-1 A/C- with 30325 (Male) and 29223 (Female), totaling 59548 and the Constituency with lowest voters is 27 Mokokchung Town A/C- 3074(Male) and 3128 (Female), totaling 6200. Fourteen assembly constituencies’ women voters had outshined men voters. Meanwhile, the Election Department has started requisite preparations to conduct the April 16 Lok Sabha polls as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) directive.
