Open Chess Championship concludes

The five days Open Chess Championship for inhibited Nagaland state organized by Sumi Chess Association of Nagaland (SCAN) came to its close on Saturday at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur with Hotolu Swu SDO (Civil) Dimapur as the chief guest at the closing function. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Hotolu Swu encourage everyone to participate and take active part in games like chess which is affordable even by low income people and which does not require physical involvement unlike the other games. He further encouraged the Sumi Chess Association of Nagaland to organized competitions often in order to encourage and create awareness of the games and also lauded the participants for taking keen interest in the game. Later the chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners. In the open general category Mughaho Awomi emerged the overall champion, Sukhavi Achumi bagged the 2nd prize, and Melesai Dawhuo got the 3rd place followed by Kahoshe Awomi in the fourth place. The winners were awarded with Rs.20, 000, Rs.15, 000, Rs.10, 000, Rs.5000 along with trophies and certificates. Kughaho Kiho, Raja Shekar and Atovi Kiho were placed fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively. They were awarded with Rs.2000 each along with certificates and trophies. In the under 16 category, Sourav Singh from St. Mary Montessori school bagged the first prize and was awarded with Rs.5000, certificate and a trophy, Shabnam Singh got the second place and was awarded Rs.3000, certificate and trophy and Yeshika Ayemi got third place with Rs.2000, certificate and trophy while Tokiho Kughahuto and Nitoka Shohe were given consolation prizes with Rs.1000 each along with certificates and trophies.
