Reacting to the news item “NSCN/GPRN condemns” that appeared in a local daily, where the NSCN/GPRN said it caught two NNC activists and handed them over to the Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO), the Naga National Council (NNC) has clarified that none of its members were involved or caught by the group as published. The NNC (Non-Accordists) through its information & publicity wing said the group or concerned people should point out the real identity of the persons involved in such matter adding that simply mentioning NNC would confuse the people at large. The NNC claimed to have maintained non-violence as its policy in the interest of the Naga people till date. “Therefore, the NNC never involve in any crime of killing or threat of extortion, kidnapping etc,” it further claimed. It appealed all concerned to be clear about such matters and added that serious crimes committed in the society by any group should be clearly point out and made known to the general public without any reservation, hesitation or biasness in the best interest of the people within and outside the Nagaland. GPRN/NSCN yesterday said that the two apprehended persons confessed that they belonged to NNC.
