Tongtong riverine fishery project inaugurated

Tongtong riverine fishery project at Waromong village under Mokokchung district was inaugurated on April 24 with parliamentary secretary for fishery & relief & rehabilitation and printing & stationery, S. Heno as chief guest and parliamentary secretary for tourism, art & culture and law & justice, Yitachu as the guest of honour. According to its project report, it was constructed through a loan procured from NABARD costing Rs. 89.40 lakhs in its initial estimated and completed at Rs. 1.9 crores. According to an official bulletin, it was completed within a period of one year and six months, covering 60,000 Sq.m. with a depth of 5 to 30 feet. This project include a mini hydro electric generator, generating 30,000 watts or 3 KV electricity which can supply enough electric power to the tourist hub, also included in the project. The chief guest in his inaugural speech congratulated those who made an effort directly or indirectly for the completion of the project in the scheduled time and making the project a grand success, adding another feather to the department. He also appreciated and praised his predecessor who happened to be none other than parliamentary secretary for tourism, art and culture & law and justice, Yitachu who was the main architect of the project. He also thanked and praised the village council members and the people of Waromong for their forwardness and cooperation while executing the project, and the officers and staff of the department for the success of the project. He further encouraged the people to come forward and work hard for community development to bring change in the community. Later He also handed over the project Memorandum of Understanding of the government to the council chairman. Guest of honour Yitachu who was the main architect of the project, called upon the people to maintain the project diligently so that the outcome of the project could be enjoyed not only by the people of Waromong but by the neighbouring villages as well. Other government officials present were commissioner & secretary soil & water conservation, Dr. Aochuba; director soil and water conservation, R T. Asang; director horticulture Rongsentemjen; director fishery Senli Ao; ADC Mangkolemba Temsu Longkumer; DFO Mokokchung Sosang and hosts government officials from different departments of district headquarter Mokokchung and Mangkolemba Sub-division. Earlier, the programme was chaired by deputy secretary Fishery, Alemjungshi and invocation prayer pronounced by T. Lima Pastor Waromong Baptist Church while welcome speech was delivered by Temendangba VCC. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from assistant director, fishery Ronsennungba. Host of invitees from entire Changkikong range and public of Waromong village attended the programme.
