Thirty days after submitting the first memorandum to district administration, the Sungratsu Senso Mundang (SSM) Monday submitted its memorandum to DC and SP Dimapur, with copies addressed to the state Governor and chief minister urging their immediate intervention into the March 25 robbery, attempted murder and gang-rape incident in Darogapathar, Dimapur. In another memorandum addressed to GRPN/NSCN (I-M) kilo kilonser, the SSM has also demanded capital punishment for two arrested accused, currently under custody at Camp Hebron. It may be recalled that on March 27 the Sungratsu Union Dimapur(SUD) had submitted a memorandum to Dimapur DC, SP, OC and Investigating Officer demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the March 25 gang-rape within 30 days. Around one thousand members, including office bearers of Sungratsu Senso Mundang (SSM) from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung gathered at Sungratsu Union Dimapur (SUD) treasurer’s residence at Nuton Basti before proceeding to the offices of the DC and SP office to submit the memorandum. DC Dimapur , Maongwati Aier after receiving the memorandum at his office chamber assured SSM that same would be forwarded to the state government the same day itself. He also informed the SSM that the administration would urge the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) to seek the handing over of two accused persons- Imtikumzuk and Hetoi a.k.a Hetobu- under the custody of the NSCN(I-M) at Camp Hebron, so that absconding accused (Sabo Sangtam) could be arrested . On the two accused – Panato and Kughato – nabbed by Dimapur police, the DC said both have been forwarded to judicial custody and so far not granted bail. Stating that judiciary would try the accused persons, the DC requested the SSM to meet with the sessions judge as the case was now with the judiciary. The memorandum jointly signed by SSM president, Kikawati Walling and general secretary, Bendangyanger Jamir expressed appreciation to the civil administration and law enforcing agency for their sincere and prompt action in arresting the accused persons involved in the crime. The SSM urged upon the law to conduct a thorough investigation in order to reveal the mastermind behind the “inhuman crime” and book all the criminals involved and to punish them as per the law. Affirming that it would not remain silent spectators anymore, SSM pointed out that the presence of “psychopath” posed grave danger to the fabric of the society if stringent punishment were not awarded to such criminals without further delay. It may be recalled that on the midnight of March 25, five miscreants identified as Panato Sumi, Imtikumzuk, Hetoi aka Hetobu, Kughato and Sabo Sangtam broke into the residence of Er. Imtiwati Aier at Darogapathar, with a hand gun and after tying and blindfolding all the family members, gang-raped the daughter, committed robbery and even attempted to murder the wife. While Panato and Kughato are in judicial custody, the main accused Hetoi alias Hetobu and Imtikumzuk are in custody of the NSCN(I-M) besides another co-accused one Temsulemba reportedly a constable in the sub jail. A source within the NSCN(I-M) had disclosed that the last named(Temsulemba) was picked up for interrogation as it was reported that he had helped plan a robbery in the house of another engineer but that the gang entered the wrong house where they committed rape and robbery .The other accused one Sabo Sangtam is reported to be still absconding.
