State Planning Board (SPB) deputy chairman Neiba Kronu Tuesday stressed on the need to work out a correct road map relating to the growth in the sector of agriculture and allied activities in the respective villages of the state.
Addressing a one day workshop on Livelihood Transformation here, Kronu encouraged the cultivators to go for organic production which is highly in demand in the global market.
He asked farmers to identify the potential crops and focus on market viability to boost their economy.
The growth of economy depends on horticulture, he said and asked the people to go for large scale productions of agriculture products instead of remaining a miniscule production.
Several persons including Rinku Bharali, IGAR, Porba, James K. Chawang, agri officer, Esther Longkumer, IGAR Porba, Khrielie Peseyie, assistant director industries & commerce, Abe Mero, Dr. Prakash, IGAR Porba, Rev. Dr. Dingu, Pusazo Luruo and Kedungulo Mero, Director CMS also spoke on the occasion.
The programme was organized by Nagaland Organic Agri-Horti Growers Resources and Nursery Development & Plantation Association and sponsored by Planning & Coordination Department.
Altogether, around 150 farmers from 19 villages attended the workshop.
