Large turnout for Mahila IR Bn recruitment

The much awaited recruitment test to the first ever Mahila (IR) Battalion was conducted in various districts of Nagaland. Recruitment for Dimapur district was held at Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chumukedima yesterday. With an initial shortlisting of candidates with height of 5 feet and above, a total of 566 candidates were selected for the physical tests which included high jump of 4 feet, long jump 8 feet, balancing act, 5 chin ups and finally 1.6 kms of running. It was the heat that took the toll on most of the candidates. The series of physical test were conducted under the supervision of various police officials with Liremo Lotha, SP, Dimapur as the Chairman of the selection board. A final total of 123 candidates were selected for the written test to be held on April 30. Speaking to Nagaland Post, the SP said that perhaps, the total number of candidates from Dimapur district was the highest in the state. While expressing his views that it was quite encouraging to see such large turn out, he also confirmed that the total number of vacancy for the district is 56. Besides police officials, Naga Women Hoho (NWH), Dimapur, Vice President, Yanpolumi, and General Secretary Liancy, were also present during the selection process. “We are here to ensure that transparency is maintained and we are satisfied with the proceedings” they said. Yanpolumi further stated that they would request SP, Dimapur, to include some representatives from NWH in the panel of selection board for the written and oral interview as observers. On being asked about the requisition of the Mahila Battalion for operational assignments outside the state in the future, they replied that it was necessary so that they would gain experience and exposure in handing tough law and order situations. While stressing on the point that only female officers should lead the battalion, they admitted that for some interim period they would certainly need their male counterparts. WOKHA: Recruitment for the 1st Mahila (IR) battalion, GD constable at Wokha was held on Wednesday in presence of Deputy Commissioner Wokha and SP Wokha and other senior officers. According to an official bulletin, the recruitment test which was held at public football ground Wokha. Sources from the police said that recruitment would be made for 46 posts of GD constable during the test. Altogether 470 applicants applied for the recruitment test out of which only 374 candidates were found eligible after the scrutiny of documents. All eligible candidates would undergo tests which include medical test, physical test, outdoor test, indoor test including written, followed by oral test. PEREN: Recruitment Rally for first Mahila (IR) battalion at Peren began on Wednesday at New Reserve Police ground Peren town. According to an official bulletin, altogether a number of 207 applicants were accepted by the board for undergoing physical test. The total post reserved allotted for Peren district is 31, out of which 10 seats would be reserved for Kuki tribe. The rally is being conducted under the chairmanship of K. Elias Lotha, SP Peren. The written test would be conducted in the next few days. PHEK: Recruitment Rally for woman constable of 1st Mahila (IR) BN was held Wednesday at the 5th NAP parade ground, Phek. According to an official bulletin, altogether 393 candidates turned up from all over Phek district to compete in the on going recruitment rally.
