Lalthara as new CS

Lalthara, IAS batch 1975 took over as the new chief secretary of the state from Mr Lalhuma IAS who relinquished office on attainment of superannuation on April 30 afternoon. The formal handing and taking over was held at the chief secretary’s conference hall in the presence of senior bureaucrats and media persons soon after the grand sending off and farewell programme held at the Secretariat Plaza. Lalhuma, IAS, 1974 had been in service for 35 years with three years as the chief secretary. Felicitating his colleague and successor Lalthara, the outgoing chief secretary also called upon the gathering of senior bureaucrats to keep up the spirit of good teamwork. While recalling that he had completed his tenure as chief secretary very peaceful with no major problems, Lalhuma attributed all the success and achievements to the cooperation, support and good teamwork from his bureaucratic colleagues. He further expressed the hope that bureaucrats of the state would continue to extend their support and cooperation to his successor. In his speech, new chief secretary Lalthara said he had confidence to take over the chair and responsibilities because of the hope of support and cooperation and teamwork from the bureaucrats. “To follow the footsteps of a great man is not easy” he said while referring to Lalhuma, who he said was described by many as a good administrator, gentleman a very simple and approachable person. Nagaland has a very good team of officers presently Lalthara said, adding “Nagaland is presently enjoying a golden era of comradeship between the bureaucrats and politicians which is not prevalent in any other states of the country.”
