1 murdered; two shot dead

Three persons were killed, one of them a ‘Leacy’ of the NSCN(K) and two other migrant labourers at Niuland area on two separate incidents but related with each other during Thursday night police said today. On Thursday, one Pichamo Kikon of Lakhuti village under Wokha and reportedly a ‘Leacy’ under the NSCN(K) was brutally beaten up by two migrant labourers following an altercation at Kuxohu village under Niuland sub-division. Police, on receiving information about a body lying unconscious by the roadside, recovered the body of Pichamo near the village and rushed him to a private hospital but the victim died on the way.Police said late Pichamo was hit by a blunt object on the head. The next day at around 6 a.m. Friday, police received information about two dead bodies near Zubza river bridge in Niuland area and on reaching the spot, discovered the bodies of the two migrants suspected to have been involved in the brutal assault on late Pichamo. The bodies were later identified as that of -Sukur Ali (25) and Nekepur Ali (20) both residents of Morigaon, Assam. According to police, the two migrants may have been killed in retaliation for the assault on late Pichamo. Police said the two migrant labourers were asked by unidentified gunmen to show them the location where the misunderstanding broke out between them and late Pichamo Kikon. The two were taken to the river site by the unidentified gunmen and shot dead at point blank range. Police also recovered two empty cases of AK 47 and five empty cases of US sten carbine from the site. The body of late Pichamo was handed over to the relatives while that of the two migrants, handed over to the community at Niuland.
