The NSCN (I-M) strongly viewing at the “unabated illegal encroachment” in PadamPukheri and its surrounding area, which it had already declared a “national heritage site”, has urged the state government to take the responsibility and utilize the resources at its disposal, to preserve and protect it from wanton destruction. NSCN (I-M) in a press statement issued by its MIP said the joint council meeting of NSCN (I-M) held on May 6 affirmed that since the site has tremendous historical and cultural importance its protection was considered as utmost priority. In connection with this, the NSCN (I-M) has sought cooperation from all responsible to protect and preserve the site from destruction. It has also appealed everyone responsible to abstain from encroachment either for residential or commercial purposes, in the greater interest of all. Maintaining that the State government should take the responsibility, the NSCN (I-M) joint council said if the trend of encroachment was to be continued uncheck, it will be left with no option but to take full responsibilities for its protection, whereby the state security agencies stationed in vicinity would be urged to make ways for them to carry on the task.
