Citing total break down of law and order situation and complete violation of Election Model Code of Conduct in Razeba HQ Polling Station no 19, under 17 – Chizami A/C, the NPCC has demanded re-polling there. NPCC president, KV Pusa said the party candidate K. Therie and his companion V. Lasuh, a former INC candidate, were assaulted allegedly by NPF supporters when Therie detected a bogus voting taking place. The NPCC said Therie was restrained from lodging complaint with the Presiding Officer of the polling station due to the mob fury. The NPCC said the area which is dominated by the NPF was gripped by fear psychosis as the latter indulged in threat, coercion and intimidation throughout the polling process. It held the ruling party responsible for obstructing the INC voters in exercising their franchise. “In view of the gravity of the situation in this Polling station where Election Model Code of Conduct have completely ceased to operate, the NPCC demand that Re-polling is invoked in the aforesaid polling station,” it demanded. Meanwhile, Therie in a letter addressed to the Sector Magistrate, Razeba Headquarter, demanded re-poll after detection of a bogus voter. Therie, stated that on his query, one person identified himself as Danyi but held a voter slip in the name of Lokho . When Therie asked the “bogus voter” to cast vote in his own name, he alleged NPF supporters turned into a mob and manhandled him(Therie) and did not allow him to remain within the vicinity of the polling station. Former INC candidate V. Lasuh who was also in the vicinity, was attacked and hit on the head with a stick, Therie said. Further he also said the womenfolk surrounded and pushed him to the vehicle to prevent further assault. Therie alleged that he did not even get the opportunity to reach the Presiding Officer to register complaint owing to the mob that had gathered at the Polling Station. He claimed the incident created a fear psychosis which discouraged the INC voters and as a consequence, violating the Election Code of Conduct. In addition , Therie also demanded re-polling in Razeba Headquarter Polling Station Part No. 19. Meanwhile, NPCC media cell chairman, R. Paphino accused NPF leaders and workers of virtually hijacking the entire polling station and in the process they manhandling the INC candidate K. Therie and attacking former INC candidate V. Lasuh who sustained head injury. Condemning the incident,Paphino said the NPF party workers created lawlessness, suppressing democracy and contravening the Election Code of Conduct. In the light of the above, the NPCC also expressed displeasure at the authorities for their failure in protecting the INC Candidate of 17, Chizami A/C and a senior INC leader at the Razeba polling station.
