Care and support society office opened at Ungma

Office of the Care and Support Society (CSS), Drop-In-Center Ongpangkong, Lozutangkang at Ungma Village was inaugurated by former MLA and President NPF, Mokokchung, R. Lepden Longkumer Friday. The Care and Support Society Drop-In-Center is the Ninth in Mokokchung district working on Target Intervention for Injecting Drug Users and HIV and AIDS and this centre will cover the Onpangkong range. In his inaugural speech, R Lepden said that Drug abuse and HIV and AIDS was a global problem and it called for an integrated approach to control further spread. He expressed hope that setting up of CSS Drop-In-Center would go a long way in containing the spread of disease in a big way. He also said that new center would help create awareness about the dreaded disease among the general public and help the affected. Managing Director, CSS Imchawati in his welcome address said, the CSS, in collaboration with the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society focused on targeted intervention for injecting drug users, prevention of HIV and AIDS and provided counseling to the affected. He said services such as counseling advocacy, awareness on HIV and AIDs and drug abuse, community mobilization and referral would be available at the centre. The function was chaired by Project Manager, Moa N. Jamir, Church leaders, village council members, social workers from Ongpangkong range and Mokokchung town attended the programme.
