In regard to the news item ‘Former NSCN (IM) CAO-in charge USR refutes allegation’ on April 8, GPRN United Sangtam Region (USR) has clarified that Chopongse, former ‘Leacy’, USR was never empowered with responsibilities of CAO in-charge of USR and no central authorities has interfered in the regional administration in any matter and as such, interference of T.T. Among, Lota and horticulture in CAO’s administration did not arise.
According to CAO, USR, GPRN, A.S. Jinger, Chopongse was working as a carpentry instructor in Government High School, Kichang. When it came to the knowledge of United Sangtam Region in 2004, USR asked him to choose whether to serve in the Naga National service or in state government service where Chopongse opted to serve as a Leacy in 2007 supported with “fake discharge document” stating his brother had been replaced in his post. But in November 2008, as the area elders complained against Chopongse still serving in GHS Kichang, he was forced discharge through USR regional advisory board on March 24, who on hearing the final decision of his force-discharge on March 24 stole arms and ammunition of USR and also with him decisively picked up one ‘leacy’ and three ‘khapurs’ under the pretext of regional meeting and defected to other faction..
Clarifying on handling of government files and documents, CAO, USR, A.S. Jinger said “GPRN does not have any system where leacy can utilize files and other office documents”
CAO, USR also clarified that his office had seldom received any complaints of anti-social activities against Thronglise Sangtam, ASO. He stated that though Thronglise Sangtam was in USR, “he is directly controlled by the Ministry of Chaplee” and not as reported in the local dailies.
