Cash incentive for pregnant mothers

Cash incentive provided for pregnant mothers under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) scheme has been set up at rupees 700 starting from the month of April. The assistance would be for pregnant mothers who deliver in PHCs, CHCs and district hospitals accompanied by at least 3 ante-natal check-ups and post delivery visits. Informing this in a press release, joint director (FW) SPMO RCH Dr Watikala said the JSY cash incentives of rupees 600 for ASHAs,/ Anganwadi workers, and voluntary health workers who escort pregnant mothers for ante -natal care (ANC) institutional delivery and post natal care (PNC) would however, remain the same. The Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme a centrally sponsored scheme was launched with an aim to reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality rate in India.
