NSF Speaker, Cusayi Lohe has denied any involvement in the attempt to capture ballot boxes of Porba A polling station no 8 and Porba B polling station no 9 on April 16 as alleged by the NPF 17 Chizami A/C and demanded that the NPF unit press secretary Sapunyi Zholia tender public apology on or before April 24 failing which the latter would be responsible for any consequences. Cusayi in a statement, expressed surprise at the allegation made against him by the NPF 17 Chizami A/C press secretary, Sapunyi Zholia and which appeared in the local dailies. Dismissing the allegations made by Sapunyi as baseless, Cusayi said these were made with the sole purpose to defame and tarnish his image. He warned that Sapunyi would be responsible for any consequences hereafter in case of failure to tender public apology within the deadline . Cusayi asserted that the particular Bolero was driven by the supporters of K. Therie to escort the ballot boxes which as confirmed by the CRPF Personnel as well as the presiding and polling officers present at the spot where the alleged incident took place. He said that his Bolero wa not detained by security forces or by the police as alleged by Sapunyi Zholia. He admitted that he had complied with the request of the police to present his Bolero on April 21 at the Pfutsero police station for necessary formalities and added, that the allegation by Sapunyi was “totally false and misleading.” Meanwhile, in another release, the Congress 17 Chizami A/C expressed shock that the NPF unit was hurling “wild allegations” against the NSF Speaker and termed it as “completely baseless and unfounded.” Congress 17 Chizami president, Kezuveyi Hesuh said there was no ground to drag the NSF Speaker into the episode as “he was not even there.” He said the Speaker’s vehicle was being used for dropping partymen at the time which Sapunyi drew his conclusions. He said the NSF Speaker’s vehicle was parked nearby when the incident occurred. Hesuh claimed that Sapunyi made the allegations to defame the NSF Speaker out of frustration because Casuyi had refused to cooperate with the NPF in “perpetrating corruption.” Hesuh said, INC polling agents from various polling stations along with the polling agents were escorting the ballot boxes to Phek via Pfutsero and Chizami as preacuation. He claimed the voters were curios when the signatures of the Presiding Officer and polling agents of both parties were not obtained on the green sealing paper at the closing of the polling EVMs. He said the EVMs were “hurriedly wrapped and taken to the vehicle.” Hesuh said such “careless attitude” attracted the attention of the voters who then followed the EVMs out of suspicion that the NPF would try to maneuver and tamper with the EVMs. He also pointed out that on the third day, the Returning Officer had sent some officers to obtain signatures of polling agents which were rejected. He claimed that the convoy following the polling EVMs had not provoked the situation in any manner but alleged that the forces indiscriminately fired at the convoy injuring two persons and damaging four vehicles in the process.
