Naga student drugged, robbed

A Naga student on his way to Guwahati to appear an MBBS entrance examination was drugged and robbed of his belongings by some miscreants on May 14 night. The victim named one Moayanger, son of Dr Rongsen boarded the Network Travels Bus (NL-07 B 0133) bound for Guwahati. On the way, the miscreants boarded the bus and later drugged the student and robbed him of all his belongings, sources said. The victim was found in an unconscious state at ISBT Guwahati and was later taken to Nagaland House, Guwahati, where the staff immediately took him to GNRC, Guwahati. Police sources said their Assam counterpart had already taken up the case since the incident took place within their jurisdiction and that further investigation was on. Meanwhile, Longsa Senso Telongjem Dimapur (LSTD) and Longsa Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur (LKTD) strongly condemned the incident and appealed Dimapur Police to investigate the case. LSTD and LKTD in a joint statement issued by its presidents Mayangtemjen and Mepumeren respectively asked the Network Travels to own responsibility and compensate the victim. The two organizations also urged all travel agencies to introduce necessary measures to check such incidents in the future. The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur also strongly condemned the incident and appealed the general public to be cautious while traveling by bus or train.
