They haven’t been photographed together in three months and were rumoured to be on the rocks. But on Tuesday Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed the world they were still in love as they dined out in Cannes last night.
Angelina arrived on the French Riviera on Tuesday evening after spending the day attending a trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The Oscar winner, 33, joined Brad, 45, and director Quentin Tarantino at a dinner for the cast and crew of Inglourious Basterds at the Michelangelo restaurant in Antibes, seven miles down the coast from Cannes.
Angelina was wearing her a dark Salvatore Ferragamo animal-print gown with her glossy brown hair loose, while Brad went for the smart/casual look in a grey shirt. Their meal came ahead of a screening of the Inglourious Basterds at the Cannes Film Festival tonight, where Brad and Angelina are set to make their first public appearance together since the Oscars on February 22.
Brad arrived on the French Riviera earlier this week and checked into a private villa at the exclusive Hotel Du Cap. Angelina was busy filming her new action thriller Salt over the weekend and stopped off in the Netherlands on her way to Cannes to attend the trial of Congolese warlord Thomas Lubanga Dylio, who is accused of using child soldiers.
The mother-of-six said: ‘After watching the proceedings from the viewing booth, I stood up and found Thomas Lubanga Dylio looking at me. I imagined how difficult it must be for all the brave young children who have come to testify against him.’ After arriving from The Hague, Angelina went straight to Michelangelo to reunite with Brad.
The restaurant, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, was teaming with security who kept photographers a fair distance away from the A-list couple. Once inside, they dined with Brad’s co-stars and the film’s producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Ron Meyer and David Lind.
Tonight’s premiere with mark their third joint appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in their four and a half year relationship. Angelina was then heavily pregnant with the couple’s twins Knox and Vivienne, who were born in France in July, when they attended last year.
