KMC invited to Mumbai

The visiting Mumbai mayor, Shuba Umesh Raul today invited the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) to visit and study the activities and functioning of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC). The invitation was extended to KMC during an interactive programme-cum lunch hosted by KMC at Hotel Japfu Thursday morning. Raul who was accompanied by her family members and MMC secretary, Joshi also highlighted the functioning and activities of MMC. She asserted that MMC’s annual budget presently stands at Rs.15, 000 (fifteen thousand) crore with more than 1 lakh employees. On being apprised about the prevailing scenario of the total lack of sewerage system in the state capital and pitiable condition of KMC resources, Mumbai mayor assured to extend whatever help she could in getting funds from the centre. Reacting to a query from KMC members, she said that the Corporation doesn’t have provision to spend its resources beyond Mumbai city. Other neighbouring smaller towns also requested MMC to extend help, but it is not possible, she added. The Mayor also revealed that Mumbai was confronting with the problems of traffic congestion as well like that of Kohima. KMC team led by chairperson, Vipopal Kintso and chairperson, Khriehu Liezietsu took part in the interaction.
