On a petition filed by the Delimitation Commission, the Supreme Court granted permission for withdrawing the Special Leave Petition filed against the PIL no 67/2007 filed by the Chakhesang Public Organisation and others in the Gauhati High Court. According to the petitioners- Theja Therieh and CPO president Yesonu Veyie, the petition for withdrawal of the SLPs came in view of the Delimitation Amendment Act 2008,which deferred the delimitation exercise in four north eastern states including Jharkhand. Writ Petition was earlier connected to Writ Petition (C) No. 296 of 2008 seeking for direction to implement the delimitation process and allocation of the Assembly seats in the State of Nagaland for an equal and proportionate representation through Delimitation Act 2002 on the basis of census 2001.The Special leave Petitions are now dismissed as withdrawn by the petitioner.
