The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Dimapur successfully concluded the first three-day refresher course on finger print collections for Investigating Officers (IO) of state police, Kohima DEF here at SP Conference Hall Thursday.
The refresher course was conducted by fingerprint experts of FSL Fingerprint division, Inspector Imlichuba and ASI Abenthung Kikon. Altogether, 54 IOs in the rank of ASI and above attended the refresher course.
The courses included theory and practical demonstrations on various techniques of fingerprint collections. At theory class, the expert resource person also dwelt on various aspect of IPC and CRPC and importance of fingerprint for conviction of criminals.
The course is part of FSL programme for refreshers course on finger print for IOs and officers of state police department to be conducted in all the district headquarters.
Police officers were taught the basics of fingerprint, its importance and techniques of their collection during their training course and this programme is aimed at refreshing them on what they were taught earlier.
“Fingerprint always relates to crime scene, I want to let the IOs know the basic knowledge on the importance of fingerprint”, said Inspector Imlichuba while interacting with correspondent of Nagaland Post.
“If IOs are equipped with scientific techniques of investigation, there’s no room for the criminal to escape” the fingerprint expert said.
