Tura-based educational institutions bagged the top honours leaving behind Shillong-based Schools and Colleges in both the Class X and XII (arts) examinations conducted by Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE). In the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations (SSLC) results declared today, Anand Mishra of Sherwood School, Tura bagged the first position with a total score of 555 marks. Similarly, Nazarius Bashemphang Kharkongor Don Bosco College, Tura bagged the first position in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) (arts) examinations with 412 marks. Mukesh Kalita of St. Edmund’s College came a close second with 411 marks. In the the Class X SSLC board exams a total student of 36358 appeared, out of which 14663 were regular while 21695 private candidates. The total pass percentage of regular candidates was 76.29 with 78.62 per cent male and 74.16 per cent female candidates clearing the exams respectively. The overall pass percentage of regular and private candidates stood at 46. 77. In the HSSLC examinations, 17478 candidates appeared, out of which 12960 were regular and 4518 were non-regular. Out of 12960 regular candidates who sat for the examinations, just 7227 passed with a pass percentage of 55.76.The breakup of pass percentage between male and female candidates were 51.28 and 59.56 respectively. The overall pass percentage of both regular and non-regular candidates was 44.46. Meanwhile, four students secured cent percent marks in Mathematics, while two candidates achieved similar feat in Science and Technology subject in the class X board exams.
