KRA militant held

Special Branch personnel apprehended one Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) activist –“finance secretary” – for demanding Rs.15, 000 from RTP Imphal Biri Agency godown manager at Army Supply Road, Signal Bosti, Dimapur Friday at around 5:30 p.m. The arrested activist was identified as Botoho V. Chishi son of late Vikuto Chishi from Litsami village, Atoizu, Zunheboto. SB personnel recovered demand coupon belonging to “Government of Kukigam”, one already filled up coupon of Rs.50, 000 and signed by finance in charge, K. Sema; four blank coupons and Rs.1670 in cash from the possession of the accused. Police said the accused confessed that Manipur bound trucks, plying between Kohima and Dimapur, were taxed ranging from Rs.50, 000 to 70,000 per truck. The accused also confessed that their group headed by Michael Manipuri and second leader, James Manipuri was involved in kidnapping of one Basanta Singh of Imphal on May 26, who was however released, police added.
