AR conducts plantation drive in Kohima

Living up to its motto “Friends of the Hill People”, Kohima based 16 Assam Rifles, at the behest of IGAR (North) and Commander 5 Sector, took on an intensive plantation drive Sunday, with a view to improve environment in the neighbouring areas. According to a defence release, all officers, troops and their families sprawled various ridges in the Assam Rifles garrison with over a thousand saplings of different varieties namely, pine, bamboo, lemon, oranges. Not only in this location, but in all the company operated bases, was undertaken by the Brave Sixteen, which recently arrived in Kohima. Assam Rifles, all over the North East and, more specifically, in Nagaland, has been deeply committed to continue its efforts in preventing soil erosion and improving ecological balance in the surroundings.
