In a major break through, Kiphire police arrested two persons who were involved in the gruesome murder of seven family members on February 8 in Zanger village, Kiphire on May 28. A press statement received here from SP Kiphire stated that the duo prime accused identified as Throngkhang son of Shitomong and Kijingkhum son of Kisothong both from Zanger village have joined FGN organization after the commission of the crime and were serving as ‘Medanpeyu’ and ‘Rajapeyu’ respectively at the time of their arrest. The two who have been absconding for the last two months are now under police custody, the release stated. The SP has appealed the FGN organization to hand over the remaining accused persons who are still absconding and “taking shelter under the umbrella of FGN.” Pointing out that some “interested public leaders” were continuously pressurizing the district administration and police for the release of the two arrested persons for “reasons best known to them,” the SP has urged the leaders of various communities and NGOs to cooperate with the district police for further investigation.
