Altogether five militants were killed including two DHD (J) militants, two UPDS cadres and one KLNLF militant in three separate incidents in different parts of Assam on Monday. In the first incident, two militants were killed in an encounter while a camp was busted near Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district and a substantial quantity of arms recovered as the Army continued its crackdown after launching operations against Black Widow militants in North Cachar Hills district of Assam. The Army has been mostly confined to NC hills but the Union Home Ministry has decided to carry on the operation in neighbouring Karbi Anglong as well as Nagaland and Manipur so that Dimasa terrorists could be wiped out. In a separate incident, two UPDS cadres were killed in an anti-insurgency operation launched by the 19 Guard Garwal regiment of Indian army Monday morning at Upper Deopani area located inside the Nambor Reserve Forest, some 30 kilometer from Bokajan town. Alleging that Karbi militant organizations were being targeted by the local police and army, the UPDS has threatened the government of NC Hills like situation in Karbi Anglong if such atrocities were not stopped immediately. Meanwhile, army sources claimed that they destroyed a Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front camp at Upper Deopani region in the morning hours today killing one militant on the spot and injuring several others, in the process which lasted for more than 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the operation has been continuing in NC Hills as the Army has moved into its interior areas, mainly near the Nagaland border, as the militants would try to flee to the neighbouring states.
