Dimapur district administration reiterating to its earlier order, which was issued in accordance with home department order, has directed all union/association to immediately stop functioning their offices and collection of tax/fee along the National highway and State highway. Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC), Maong Aier in a fresh order issued on Monday said violators of the order would be arrested and prosecuted as per the law. It stated that this order was implemented by district police with effect from May last year. However, the High Court had stayed the order in respect of Petroleum and Land Transport Workers Federation of India (PLTWFI) and Dimapur Motor Workers and Trade Union (DMWTU) for which the High Court had directed two unions to file to the home commissioner within one month period for review. The order of banning all union/association for collection of tax/fee in the national and state highway was in accordance with home department order No.HC/NL-1/99-2000 dated May 26 2000, it stated.
