Three vehicle lifters were apprehended and a Tata Inidca (AS01-AE-2098) was recovered from their possession, police sources said on Tuesday. According to police the three identified as Mohibul Ali son of Sohidul Ali of Jslampur Merapani, Assam, Jainul Abdin s/o of late Md. Kazim from Lokhyaipur Goalpara, Assam and Jaan Ali son of Sambul Ali Nalbari Ganeshguri, Guwahati, were apprehended on Friday last at New Field gate, Dimapur and recovered the stolen vehicle in which they were traveling.
Police sources said that the trio had hired the vehicle from Guwahati on the pretext of going to Beltola, Guwahati then took the driver and his helper to Rangyia where they were allegedly drugged and dumped at Jaklabanda road side. The three had been brought to west police station for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, Addl. S.P, V.Z Angami while briefing the media persons said that the main accused Mohibul Ali had revealed that he has been in these trade since 2006 and had so far stolen about five vehicles such as bolero, Indigo, Tata sumo and two Indica’s and have disposed them with the help of one Ashiho Sema a resident of Dimapur who is still absconding. He also disclosed one Rajiv as one of his accomplice. Police sources also said that one of the arrested persons offered Rs.10,000 as bribe to the officer in charge at the new field check gate but was turned down by that officer.
