In a major breakthrough, Nagaland police and Assam police in a joint operation on Wednesday at around 8 a.m. rescued one person “cultivator” from Kushaibill area, Dimapur who was abducted last Friday at Benganabil near Bokajan, Assam.
According to police sources, based on specific information Nagaland police and Assam police led by SDPO Bokajan, OC East Dimapur and OC Bokajan conducted a raid at Kushiabill area and rescued the victim identified as Prem Kumar Kurmi (34) from Beganabil near Bokajan and handed over to Assam police. The victim who was also allegedly assaulted by the miscreants was immediately sent to civil hospital for medical check up.
Police sources also said that the raid was conducted after receiving a requisition from Assam police about a farmer being abducted on ransom of Rs.10 Lakhs which was later renegotiated to Rs.3 lakhs.
Police came to know the whereabouts of the criminals and the abducted person around Kushiabill area using the assistance of the Aircel company tower rescued the victim.
It was also confirmed that no transaction of money between the abducted family members and the miscreants had taken place. Efforts are on to nab the miscreants who were still absconding.
