Tourists comment on Nagas, Nagaland

A peep into the visitors’ book at Tuophema Tourist Village would give one a fair idea of how tourists who visited the state take back with them when they go back to their respective places. The column for comments in the visitors’ book were filled with flurry of comments, filled with all praises of the beauty of the land, the people and Naga tradition and culture which the tourist visitors had quietly left behind. Some of the tourist in their comments termed Nagaland as “part of paradise,” “jewel,” “home away from home,” “nicest people,” “real treat,” “photographic paradise” etc. “Nagaland is truly a jewel of world culture,” Rob Stewartz a tourist from USA wrote in the book. “Tuophema perhaps, was the best place to stay, change my whole vision of the part. Great fan of your land culture and people,” wrote Asia Pacific Adventure group from USA. William Brunner, a tourist wrote that it was “Memory of a lifetime” while Ged Konig New Delhi wrote “New world, wonderful part of paradise.” Staff of British High Commission wrote “A lovely little oasis in Nagaland” while another tourist David Scott Mathison from Australia wrote, “This village (Tuophema) is a real treat”. “Nagaland is a photographic paradise,” Sue & Loin Robins from USA commented while another tourist Fran Jack Kennedy also from USA wrote, “This has been a little paradise in the acts of Nagaland.” “Wonderful, very peaceful and relaxing stay. Naga tradition should live forever” wrote Ivan Marcus also from USA. “You are of the nicest people I met,” wrote another tourist Rishi Sinha from India.On the other hand, Nippon Comp Japan wrote “Historical place for me which my forefather has sacrificed their life from this land. Nagaland forgive us for the past mistake done by our people.” Commenting on the Tourist village and the tourism initiatives, Col. D.B Thapa wrote “Premier Institution in tourism in Nagaland.” “It is a unique community initiative. A role model for rural tourism,” wrote Pradeep Sing Kharola. “We are at the beginning of a long journey but if this is the beginning it will be very nice”, five tourists from Italy wrote in their comment. Most tourists commented on the Naga food, culture, hospitality, room and compound maintenance, and the comments kept on increasing as the flow of tourists kept increasing along with the passage of time.
