Plight of Nagas in NC Hills

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio disclosed that Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi admitted that the plight displaced Nagas in NC Hills in the wake of violence was the biggest problem confronting him. Speaking on the sidelines at the DDSC stadium here Saturday, Rio said Gogoi assured that everything was being done to contain further violence in the district. More than 34 people killed and 600 houses burnt by the miscreants during the bloodshed between the Dimasa and Zeme Naga communities in the North Cachar Hills district since middle of March in this year. More than 3400 people of the two communities were sheltered in relief camps. On the 6th pay commission, Rio disclosed that he informed the Union Finance Minister on the inability of the state government to implement it. He also said both the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar were invited to inaugurate the North East Agri Expo to be held on second week of November.
