16th OTS commencement

The 16th Commencement ceremony of master of Divinity and master of Ministry Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS) was conducted at Town Baptist Church, Dimapur on Sunday with general secretary, Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) Rev Dr Anjo Keikung delivering the message. Speaking on the occasion, Rev Dr Anjo Keikung stated that leadership was a divine destiny from God which He chooses from the beginning. Taking the exemplary leadership qualities of Moses from the bible the Reverend urged the graduating class to develop exceptional qualities of leadership. He also emphasized upon the students the importance of servant hood and serve the people, sharing responsibility, price of criticism and to be humble. While admitting that preachers do feel lonely at time with no one to teach them the word of God he stated that it was a chance to come closer to God. Earlier the programme was conducted by Assistant Professor, OTS, Dr C Cho-o while Zawang H Wangthe gave a speech on behalf of the graduating class. A total of sixteen students received Master degree of Divinity while two of them were awarded Master in Ministry. The graduating class of 2009 included a B. Tech student of Computer Science & Engineering from NERIST, Mathiuthonlu and an MA in History, Kevichalie Metha. On asking Mathiuthonlu, she replied that she always felt something amiss in her life and while working at NBCC office, she decided to work for God through various missions. Meanwhile OTS award for Academic excellence went to Zawang Wangthe Hkawng, Lt. Nula Panger award in Ministry, Kevichalie Metha and OTS award for Dignity of Labour was awarded to Viposa. The class also had four students from Myanmar. It may be mentioned that the Oriental Theological College which has a total 60 students along with the Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, is sponsored by Nagaland Baptist Churches Association (NBCC).
