BCCI officials to tour Nagaland Dimapur, Jun 15 (NPN): Top ranking officials from the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) will be touring Nagaland from June 17 to 21. The officials include: manager, game development of BCCI, Stanley Saldanha; Kulkarni and Banerjee. According to convener cricket development of NCA, A. Rahman the officials on their arrival at Dimapur on June 17 will visit the Nagaland Cricket Association office at 1st floor Eastern Mirror Complex at Circular Road and will also witness an under-14 exhibition match between NCA U-14 team and DDCA U-14 team at DDSC ground from 2:30 pm. The official will also visit the under construction Nagaland Cricket Stadium at Sovima and will proceed to Kohima. On June 18, in Kohima they will be inaugurating the programme of umpire training at the conference room at Hotel Japfü. In this regard, A. Rahman informed all the NCA officials to present at the inauguration of the training programme at Hotel Japfü at 10:30 am on June 18. Meanwhile, the participants of umpire training programme have been informed to contact convener of Nagaland umpire panel Moses (9436242964) on their arrival at Kohima. It also informed all district association to submit their draft of NCA registration fee along with their activities report of last year to member cricket development committee, Sunep Imchen (9436001775) before June 17 before the start of the coaching camp. Inter-school cricket tourney Kohima, Jun 15 (NPN): First Inter School Cricket Tournament (under-16) under Kiphire district will be held from June 29 to July 4 at Local ground, Kiphire town. In this regard, Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) informed interested schools to confirm their participation by June 23. NLTA felicitates Dimapur, Jun 15 (NPN): Nagaland Tennis Association (NLTA) congratulated Vilasier Khate for emerging as runners-up in both singles and doubles (under-16) in the Oil-All India Super Series Tennis Championship 2009, held at Guwahati from June 8 to12. Mhasilhouto Thoü and Kenisezotuo Whuorie also participated in the championship. Cash awards to Santosh Trophy winners PANAJI, JUN 15 (PTI): Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has announced Rs 1 lakh to each member of the state team that won the Santosh Trophy defeating Bengal via tie-breaker. Congratulating the team for emerging winners, Kamat said Goa has always been a leading force in Indian football and had bagged the prestigious trophy for the fifth time. Goa Football Association (GFA) President Joaquim Alemao also hailed the team and said, “It’s a great moment for the Goans as they beat their arch rivals Bengal for the first time. “The victory meant special for us as it came at a time when we are celebrating the golden jubilee celebrations of GFA,” stated Alemao who has also announced Rs one lakh to the team from his own pocket. The President of Sporting Clube de Goa, Peter Vaz, who is also the vice-president of GFA, announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh to the team and Rs 10,000 to the captain Felix D’Souza. “The special prize for Felix is not only for equaling Brahmanand’s record of not conceding a goal in the tournament but also saving two penalty kicks in the final,” said Vaz. Somdev ousted from Wimbledon qualifiers LONDON, JUN 15 (PTI): Prakash Amritraj sealed a second round berth in the Wimbledon qualifying event but it was all over for Somdev Devvarman, who crashed out after losing his opening match on Monday. Prakash, seeded 28 and ranked 161 beat Croatian world number 236 Antonio Veic 6-3, 6-4 in his first round match. Somdev, seeded 14th, lost 3-6, 2-6 to Monaco’s Jean-Rene Lisnard, who is placed 80 rungs below the Indian at 215. Prakash broke his rival once each in both the sets, sixth in the first and third in the second, to advance. Prakash played a flawless game as he faced just two breakpoints in the match and successfully saved both. He will next face either Conor Niland of Ireland or Daniel Cox of Britain Somdev, who has been struggling these days, had a disappointing day as despite putting up a tough fight he ended up on the wrong side.
