More than 200 teachers under DIS Niuland launched indefinite sit-in protest outside DIS office, Niuland Monday demanding release of their pending salaries. According to spokesperson of “Convening Body of Teachers”, Atoka Chophy the agitation would continue till they get assurance from the directorate to fulfill their demands, adding that agitation would be intensified. The agitation passed off peacefully. However, the absence of DIS Niuland irked the teachers, the “Convening Body of Teachers” said. On the department’s reaction, the agitated teachers felt that since all the teachers were equally dedicated to their service they also deserved to be paid in the same way. Meanwhile, the teachers have expressed gratitude to Niuland administration led by ADC Niuland for taking stock of the situation. It has requested the teachers under DIS Niuland, who have received salary, to also extend solidarity and participate in the agitation. Stating that agitation would continue tomorow, the “Convening Body of Teachers” has requested all the teachers to arrive at DIS Niuland office by 9 a.m.
