Pangti village adhoc chairman replies to ‘press note’

Responding to the ‘press note’ on NREGS implementation at Pangti village, Wokha which was issued by chairman of Pangti village council E. Nmerio Shitiri published in local dailies on June 18, the adhoc chairman Y. Ekyimo Kikon stated the ‘press note’ alleging him to be ‘self style adhoc village chairman’ was misleading and in no point of time he had acted as adhoc village chairman. The adhoc chairman in a press release further clarified that meeting of Pangti village was held on May 31 where 567 beneficiaries of NREGS scheme selected him (Y. Ekyimo Kikon) as adhoc chairman for the beneficiaries. The meeting resolved to approach officially the department for the release of the balance amount within 20 days time and “the same was executed” on June 3 as adhoc chairman on behalf of the NREGA beneficiaries. In regard to “threat perception” the adhoc chairman stated that the letter serving an ultimatum to withdraw the RTI application and action to be initiated on failing of withdrawal of the RTI application signed by the chairman and the secretary Pangti village council was issued to him on April 5. Adhoc chairman further stated that the ‘press note’ appeared ‘fishy’ and asked the chairman , Pangti village council to explain to the public in detail on whose custody the ‘said amount’ was kept. The adhoc chairman has sought clarification from chairman Pangti village on whether the ‘press note’ was issued on obtaining the consent of the general public of the Pangti village.
