2 extortionists held

Acting on a tip off that four persons were extorting money from Manipur bound trucks at Notun Bosti, Dimapur, Special Branch, Police arrested two activists of the Kuki Revolutionary Army (U) while the remaining two had already left the spot taking along with them a truck driver, before the police arrived, Tuesday at around 11 a.m. The driver, Laxman was however released later after being physically tortured. Quoting sources, Special Branch of Dimapur Police said the four accused were extorting money from Manipur bound trucks stationed at a cement godown, Notun Bosti. The two arrested were identified as Ezra Murry (45), Okotso village, Wokha currently residing at Notun Bosti and Uttam Lodh, Tripura, resident of River Belt colony. The duo admitted that they had been extorting money of Rs 5000 each from trucks in the name of KRA for the past 2-3 months which were stationed at various godowns in and around Dimapur. Incriminating documents of KRA, two coupons of money receipts of Kukigam KRA along with receipts of Rs 5000 were recovered from the duo. Police also recovered identity cards issued by Phenix Properties Ltd, G S Road, Guwahati to both the accused in which both of them have given Murry Medicals, Notun Bosti as their reference address.
