State govt hikes DA, DR for staff, pensioners to 64%

State government Wednesday announced to grant Dearness Allowance (DA)/Additional Dearness Allowance (ADA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to state government employees and pensioners respectively from the existing rate of 54% to 65% with effect from January 1, 2009 pay payable with their salaries and pensions starting from June, 2009 salary including Dearness Pay (DP) in respect of state government employees drawing the revised scales under ROP ’99. According to a finance department memorandum issued by principal secretary and finance commissioner, Toshi Aier the ADA would be paid in respect of state government employees drawing pay in the pre-revised scales under ROP ’93 from the existing rate of 283% to 308% from January 1, 2009 pay. It stated that the order would also apply to the employees appointed on contract against sanctioned posts, and drawing pay in identical scale applicable to the regular employees of the corresponding categories. However, it would not apply to the work-charged employees. In the case of state government pensioners and family pensioners DR has been hiked from the existing rate of 54% to 64% of Basic Pension (BP) /Family Pension (FP) –including Dearness Pension in case of pre- April 1, 2004 pensioners/family pensioners – per month.
