In an about-turn , BJP National Council Member (NCM), Johnny G. Rengma said the recent merger of the erstwhile BJP state unit was necessitated in the interest of the people of Nagaland. “I had consulted not only within my political colleagues and friends but with various sections of the Naga society and I am convinced that erstwhile BJP Nagaland State unit decision to merge with NPF was in the larger interest of the Naga people.” Johny said. He also described as ‘bold’ the decision of erstwhile BJP Parliamentary Party leader MC Konyak to strengthen the DAN govt in the state and to facilitate the two DAN MPs offer unconditional support to the Congress-led UPA government at the centre as desired by the Naga people. The BJP leader also appealed to all sections of Nagas and political leaders to extend full support to the DAN government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio to avail the assurances of the UPA government in solving the Naga political issue and also for economic development.
