Dy Speaker pained at Saturday’s mishap

Expressing deep pain at Saturday’s road mishap at Longsa village under Wokha district where one person was killed and three others injured, NLA deputy speaker, Ralanthung Yanthan has appealed the concerned authority to ensure immediate assistance to the relatives of the deceased and those injured. The deputy speaker through a faxed statement appreciated the manner in which the family members and relatives of the deceased and the injured persons overcame the “tragedy of such a magnitude.” “Divine support and guidance, both physically and spiritually could make this happen under the most trying situation,” he said. The deputy speaker also lauded the concerted efforts of the chief secretary, Lalthara, DC Wokha, Wepretso Mero, SP Wokha, Imlisunep, Longsa village council, Lotha Hoho, Kyong Students’ Union and the Longsa Students’ Union in handling the situation. Saturday’s mishap involved the vehicle (Bolero-NL10-6278) of the chairman NSMDC, Kipili Sangtam who was on his way to Kohima. The Bolero ran over two motorcycles coming from the opposite direction. It was reported that the enraged mob torched the Bolero. Later, at a meeting held between the district administration and the Longsa village council, Kyong Hoho, Kyong Students’ Union and Longsa Students’ union decided that ex-gratia should be granted to the deceased by the government. It was also decided that the wife of the deceased should be employed in the state government department and further ensure medical assistance to those injured.
