One shot dead in Mon

A body of a male youth, identified as one Tinghai of Mon village (27) was recovered near Tapi River, about 5 km from Mon town Tuesday. Two cell phones and a bag were recovered along with the body. Later, the body was handed over to relatives after necessary formalities. The NSCN/GPRN has claimed responsibility for the killing. The slain youth reportedly a professional robber looted passengers of night buses plying between Mon and Dimapur. According to a reliable source, the NSCN/GPRN after learning of his criminal activities had warned him to mend ways but did not heed to their warning and continued looting. Thus NSCN/GPRN was forced to award capital punishment, the source added. NSCN/GPRN while claiming responsibility stated they took up the case with parents and villagers, and during which the parents of the slain youth agreed to abide by whatever decision the NSCN/GPRN took.
