12 from Kma through to Piano round

Twelve budding young talents from, Kohima has been selected for the Piano round of Pheto Music Association’s ‘Kids for Fame’ 2009, the popular vocal contest for children aged 9-15 years. The audition in Kohima took place at Season’s Café, CK Arcade, 4th Floor, opposite Taxi Stand on Thursday. Earlier, while declaring the Kohima audition ‘Kids for Fame’ 2009 open, state chief secretary Lalthara said that Nagas and Mizos possessed immense talent in the field of music and opined on proper grooming, so they would find prominent place in this field. The chief secretary urged the youngsters to take music as a profession and stated there were lots of avenues in the field of music and encouraged them by saying singing should be taken as a form of pleasure and entertainment, and added that in the global scenario, there were people earning millions of dollars through singing. Pointing out the state government's policy of youth empowerment, the chief secretary disclosed the Music Task Force has been given the task for the promotion of the music talent in the state. He also said through this kind of competition the best singers could be identified to even participate in the Indian Idol contest. The 12 kids selected from Kohima audition are Daniel Kath, Nancy Kent, Grace Kent, Neilahenuo Jessica Sote, Seyievinuo Chuzho, Ashuni Liriina, R. Areno Lotha, Azatoli K Rotokha, Lamneihoi Thomson, Tughunakali Zhimomi, Shawalo Kent and Tumchibeni Tsopoe. The lone judge for the show was renowned musician Theja Meru. The sponsors for the event were State Bank of India Main Branch Dimapur, Feel Sweet, Big Ones Ice Cream, venue partners –Seasons Café, media partner Morung Express and the Kohima district partners Synergy Group Enterprise (SGE). The ultimate ‘Kids for Fame’ 2009 would walk away with Rs. 2 lakh cash and one year educational scholarship. Meanwhile, the crew of Finishing Touches, the event manager of the second edition of ‘Kids for Fame’, halted at Kohima on Thursday and on Friday morning would proceed to Zunheboto. The third and final audition would be held on July 4 at 10.30 am at Youth Hall, below Town Hall Zunheboto. (Correspondent)
