Kohima team crowned champions

Kohima overcame Dimapur to emerged overall champions in the 22nd edition of Nagaland state taekwondo championship on Friday organized by Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA). Kohima took 22 gold medals, Dimapur with 11 gold medals, Wokha got 4 gold medals and Mokokchung took 3 gold medals, while Peren, Longleng and Tuensang shared one gold medal each. The winning running trophy and certificate was handed over to Kohima district team by NTA controller Pele Khezhie. Earlier Bendang Longchari, secretary, youth resources and sports graced the closing function as the chief guest. In his address, he called upon the participants to take sports a profession and not hobby. He also said that the department of Youth Resources and Sports is taking various sporting activities to promote sports in the state. Altogether 250 participants , of which 200 are players and 50 officials from nine districts- Kohima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Wokha, Longleng , Mon and Peren districts took part in the championship.
